BRCT 2002 Race Calendar
The 2002 calendar was published today,  it introduces a new meeting format to be run on alternate Sundays. The new 'Open Class' format championship will be run over 8 meetings with 5 to count. Each meeting will consist of 3 rounds of qualifying and finals. It is open to anyone who races in the open class meetings and has trophies awarded to the group winners (C1-C5) in 27T stock and modified classes. The points are based on a drivers FTQ or Final whichever is the higher. This means drivers can compete by only having to run in the qualifying and can miss the finals. If a driver has a bad final the qualifying would then count. The new format has been introduced to allow drivers to take part in a mornings racing without having to stay after lunch time. The Open Class championship will be run without a weight limit to give drivers the chance to go as fast as possible, and includes  free choice of tyres and cells up to 3000mAh in capacity.

The BRCT Club Championship format remains largely unchanged, with rounds being run alternating with the Open Class meetings. The main change to the championship is that 5 rounds out of 8 will count for points.
Trophies are on offer for 1st to 3rd in 27T, 15T and modified, plus a trophy for the winner of the 27T U13 championship. The rules continue with 27T rebuildable stock motors, 15T CML 'series 15' motors and BRCA legal modified motors. Sanyo 3000HV cells will also be allowed following their being made legal by the BRCA.

The first BRCT Trophy Meeting of 2002  is scheduled for Sunday 2nd June. With trophies to be won on the day it should prove as popular as ever. The meeting is open to everyone, with no pre-entry required, just turn up on the day and join in the fun.
