New Barham Track is GO!!
The first race meeting at the new Barham track on Sunday 6th October was a great success. The aptly named A1 "Club" circuit chosen as the regular BRCT circuit proved to be superb. With a consistent smooth tarmac surface providing lots of excellent high speed racing. The drivers had a good time racing the flowing lines of the  new layout. Future meetings will be run on circuits using the track layout options as shown on the BRCT race planner.

The friendly atmosphere at the Barham club makes it a popular venue for r/c car enthusiasts who like a great days racing. Enquiries have been received from all around the SE as the news of the new BRCT circuit spreads. The club welcomes everyone from total novices to the top level drivers. Heats are seeded according to ability to keep the racing as close as possible. Despite the popularity of 1/10 scale electric Touring Cars (scale saloons) other electric race classes are welcome to come along to BRCT. Formula 1 and Pro 10 cars as well as 1/5 bikes are expected in the future.

BRCT racers!!

The race format at BRCT is two 5 min qualifying races with the best run counting as a drivers FTQ (fastest time in qualifying). The drivers are then sorted into finals of up to 10 cars, with the A final in each class consisting of the fastest qualifiers, down to eg a Z final for the slowest. All the drivers then  race in 3 leg finals with their best 2 counting for championship points.
Separate races are run for stock motors (27 turns) and modified (including 15 turn control motors). Juniors under 13 also compete for junior honours.
There is plenty of time for practice so newcomers can set their cars up and learn the track.

The official meeting start time is 9am but provided those arriving early respect the local residents and occupants (track owners) by keeping the noise down and driving into the BRCT car park slowly, their keenness to race will be rewarded by extra practice. The track is available for use on most week days and Saturdays provided Gary Horn the track owner is notified (tel: 01227 831723). Fees are charged for racing and test days as either BRCT members, U13's or visitors. It should be noted that the track is sometimes closed for track maintenance so please phone before travelling.
Hot and cold food and drink is available on race days, with indoor pitting and toilets always available at the track.

Details of the BRCT race meetings are shown on the 2002 race calendar. The location of the BRCT race track is shown on the Barham map. Further information is available by either contacting Gary Horn on 01227 831723 or Terry Stockham on 01303 259196. We look forward to seeing you!!
