Club Championship Round 1
Eager anticipation was the mood around the pits for the first round of the BRCT 2002 Club Championship. With new rules introduced for the 15T class it was to be seen if the modified drivers would come under pressure.
Rule changes mean that 15T race in with modified and can now claim points as one 'Mod/15T' class. The 15T class also have a separate championship series. The tyre rules are now aligned for all classes with only tyres on the BRCT tyre 'black list' being banned.

Track conditions were drying so it was on to dry tyres as soon a possible. Take Off CS-22 and CS-27 were chosen by many, with Pits D20 and D25 compounds also in use amongst the faster cars. Throughout the two qualifying rounds personal FTQ's were being beaten especially among the 2002 newcomers.

Stock class was dominated by Ian Pullman who took pole for the 'A' with a good 13/315.98. He went on to win the 'A' by winning the first two legs. Graham Simmons was 2nd, once again the top U13 driver. Dominic Shore continued his improving results with a good 11/318.67 to take 52nd in the overall BRCT driver FTQ's.

Modified was won by Clive Stockham but he failed to improve on his FTQ set back in October. Jevon Frost returned to offer a challenge and take 2nd.
Iain Bone showed good form to take the 15T honours from Keith Simmons. There was no serious challenge to the modified drivers as some had predicted, the dry track allowed modifieds to make use of their extra power. A newcomer to the modified class was the 27T regular and 2001/02 champion Les Help. He put up a good performance and looks set to improve throughout the 2002 season.
