Club Championship Round 8
The final round of the Spring Championship decided the overall placings.
A gloomy start to the day soon brightened up and track temperatures were soon rising. The first meeting of the year with 4 stock heats and 2 modified heats was sure to be competitive, and turned out to be just that. With the championship points tables showing several close fought battles, todays results on track were all important to decide the postitions. The top placings in the 27T Stock Championship were all settled with Les Help the overall winner. The under 13 winner was George Simmons who also came
2nd overall. In 3rd place was Gary Horn. Modified was already settled with Clive Stockham the winner, Jevon Frost 2nd and Terry Stockham 3rd. The main battle was for the overall winner of the 15T Control Championship. It was between Keith Simmons and Philip Thurlby. An excellent A final qualifying for Philip helped boost him to a tie on points with Keith. In 3rd place was Iain Bone by just one point over Ken Cooper.

Newcomers and team mates Russell Brown and Jason Pitcher proved that despite their lack of experience, enthusiasm can overcome most problems.
Both Russell and Jason showed something of their potential on the track.
The days racing was the usual  mix of good and bad luck plus some superb driving from the drivers on form. Notable among these was David Wastall continuing to do well after his A final result at the Ashby BRCA national meeting. David took 27T FTQ today and won 2 of the 3 A Final legs. Clive Stockham continued his winning in Modified, and Philip Thurlby as mentioned was the winner of 15T Control. The updated BRCT FTQ list will be updated and released soon, showing all the current FTQ's and driver gradings with many moving up especially the C5's, C4's and C3's.

Following the addition of a new BRCT links page there can be no excuse for failing to improve in the BRCT Summer Championship which starts soon. Information on all aspects of racing can be found for those that choose to look for it. One site recommended for a good read and lots of advice is the
Team Benwell website, both Ian Foxwell and Mark Bennett know their stuff.
If you're serious about winning you should read up on their speed secrets.
