PTX Transponder FAQ

When ordering using the MRT WebShop you MUST include your
email address for you to be sent the automated 'order auto-confirm'.
PTX - What is it?
The PTX is a direct powered (DP) personal transponder for use
with AMBrc and AMBrc3 systems and can be used anywhere
that you would use the normal AMBrc personal transponders.
The advantages of the PTX design include the smaller size
compared to normal PT's, the choice of base which can be
replaced and changed between tabbed and non-tabbed mount,
a replaceable power lead, low voltage operation (2.8V min)
continuous high power signal output even at low voltages,
plus very low power consumption compared to normal PT's.
PTX / T1-10 - AMB20 Analogue & AMBrc Digital
Older AMB decoders/systems are analogue, new AMB systems
are digital. There is NO compatibility between systems.
MRT PTX transponders are digital for use on AMBrc/AMBrc3
and MRT T1-10 transponders are analogue for the AMB20.
It is not possible to use an analogue transponder on a
digital system or a digital one on an analogue system.
The older AMB20 system has 10 (or 20 on some systems)
transponder numbers. The newer AMBrc digital system has
a possible 10 million coded digital transponder numbers.
PTX Specifications and Versions
Details of the specifications and versions available are
on the rclaps.com website. Hard cased or 'shrink wrapped'
types can be ordered with standard or customised options.
Cased versions are waterproof and fuelproof, heatshrink
('shrink') versions are extra lightweight but are NOT
waterproof/fuelproof - recommended for indoor use only.
Cased PTX transponders come with an option to have either
a tab mount base (R9981 standard / R9983 customised) or a
base with no tabs (R9980 standard / R9982 customised). If
a standard PTX is ordered with tabs (or without) it comes
supplied with a blue LED and a 190mm / approx 7.5" lead.
PTX Shrink transponders are standard (R9984) or cutomised
(R9985). Custom LED's have 6 options, leads long or short.
Clone versions are the same as above (R9982/R9983/R9985).
LED's available: Blue, Red, Amber, Green, Purple, White.
Power Lead Lengths: Long 190mm (standard), Short 90mm.
Custom length leads are also available (use order form).
PTX - Who can buy?
We don't have dealers or distributors which helps us keep
our prices lower. Discount prices for quantity orders are
available (see 'PTX - Prices' below) we do welcome orders
from anyone including shops/stores and clubs worldwide.
PTX Ordering
Online ordering is available at www.rclaps.com payment is
by credit / debit card or by PayPal. An order confirmation
email will only be sent if a valid email address is used on the
order / checkout page. Email orders are accepted, payment by
credit / debit card or by PayPal. PayPal payments to be sent to
paypal@team-mrt.com following email requesting payment.
Please note we do not have a specified time before orders
are despatched when the payment has been made in advance,
either by email or through our online store. We normally
request payment when orders are being processed ready to
be shipped. When stock is not available or custom orders
are required it may be between 7 to 14 days before orders
are shipped. Time should be allowed including additional
days for the delivery of orders (plus customs delays etc).
PTX Prices
Prices displayed on the MRT WebShop product pages include
UK VAT (sales tax) for non-UK delivery locations clicking
'Buy' and using the country selector on the checkout page
then returning to the product page will show prices with
no UK VAT. The store checkout will also show the shipping
charges for the order. Where prices are shown in US$ or AU$
the price may vary due to the exchange rates. When ordering
10+ of one PTX type the price has a 5% discount included.
PTX Clone Orders
When ordering clone transponders for the first time it is
required that a separate clone order form is sent for each
original AMB transponder sent, a separate form should also
be included for each custom specification required. When
sending a transponder its number must be clearly written
on the order form. Please ensure strong packaging is used
to protect your transponder(s) in transit, paper envelopes
should not be used as they can easily be damaged. It is
strongly recommended that insurance and tracking is used
when sending valuable transponders to us. We cannot accept
responsibilty for loss or damage when sending items to us.
PTX ID Numbers
The PTX is available as individually numbered transponders
(due to the AMB system having 'coded' ID numbers we cannot
produce new numbers, ID numbers are not guaranteed unique)
the ID number of each transponder can be changed by use of
a 'setup' button (20 alternative ID numbers are available).
Each individually numbered transponder has its 'custom' ID
number written on the supplied instruction sheet with the
20 alternative numbers also listed as two sets of 10 ID's.
Repeated numbers are not available for custom ID non-clone
transponders. Only cloned transponders can have identical
ID numbers supplied, following an original AMB transponder
having been sent to us to have the ID number clone copied.
Cloned PTX transponders can have copied numbers from either
personal transponder (PT) or rechargeable battery type (RT)
'hand out' transponders used at clubs. The transponder must
be sent to MRT in the UK together with a 'clone order form'
(available from the rclaps.com website). It's not possible
to order cloned transponders without sending the original
AMB transponder, it cannot be cloned from just the number.
Cloned transponders can be re-ordered any time (only number
and customised options are needed) the original transponder
does not need to be sent again. For the customised options
available (display LED and lead length) see the order form.
PTX Cloned ID Numbers
To offer cloned PTX transponders (that allow for multiple
cars using the same ID number) requires that the owner of
the original AMB transponder accepts that when purchasing
clones MRT are not responsible for change of ownership of
ID numbers. The AMB transponder owner is responsible for
notifying MRT that the ID has been moved to a new owner.
MRT will only produce cloned PTX transponders solely for
the original owner of the cloned ID number. If notified
by the original owner that the ID has been transferred
additional clones may then be ordered by the new owner.
PTX Basic Instructions
PTX transponders (cloned and non-cloned) are supplied with
20 stored ID numbers and come factory set on to either the
clone ID, or to the custom ID for non-clone transponders.
By pressing the setup button it is possible to switch from
the cloned/custom number to the other numbers if required.
To use the PTX it should be connected to a power socket on
a receiver or to a battery pack. The LED will light up to
show the transponder is operating. When setting the number
(or checking the number that is set) the LED will flash to
show the number selected, or the number that has been set.
PTX Warranty
MRT PTX transponders have a 'lifetime' guarantee provided
they have not been misused or abused, in normal use they
should continue to operate reliably.
PTX Transponder Servicing & Repairs
Any servicing or repairs, including replacement of leads,
case repairs and heatshrink replacement etc is available
by sending to MRT (address details as team-mrt web site).
A note describing the transponder service and repair work
plus the return address and contact details are required.
Other AMB Transponder Services
In addition to MRT Transponder products we also offer a

Rechargeable transponder testing and battery replacement
is available and repairs where possible, including LED's.
